About Us

City Care exists to help provide sustainable housing, financial assistance and friendship to our city's underprivileged. We do this by offering rent and utility assistance for sustainable housing and connecting people with a network of resources and partner organizations that can help empower people for sustainability for the long-term. During out application process we work to establish a livable budget for our clients and their families through monthly budgeting and financial planning. We also offer emergency aid in appropriate situations when households have utility shut off notices, emergency medical situations, and eviction notices.

City Care has been operating since January of 2010 and has had non-profit status since June of 2010. Our organization was founded by two friends who saw the overwhelming need in their community to lend a hand to individuals in desperate situations. City Care began with these two friends meeting with individuals who were in crisis and working as advocates to connect people with the support they needed from other agencies in town. As the year has gone by, more volunteers have become involved, connections have been strengthened and we opened City Thrift on the corner of 2nd and Greenwood in Bend to fund this great work.

Today we havea team of volunteers who help by offering advocate meetings with people in the community who are experiencing hardship. These meetings are by appointment only and consist of an interview to hear the client's story and need, to go over their current monthly budget and create a sustainable budget for the future, as well as networking and partnering with a variety of organizations in the community to help our guests become more create sustainable and empowered lives. Our name is known county wide, and people are referred from multiple partner organizations. We have the privilege of partnering with The Family Access Network of the Deschutes County School District, the Bend area Habitat for Humanity team, Neighbor Impact, all of our local shelters and many other groups in town.

We are largely funded by our local thrift store City Thrift, located at 999 NE 2nd St. near downtown Bend and are currently seeking grants and donations as well to further our impact on the community.  `
